Miss Roseann Marie Goddard and Airman Matthew Wade Barker were united in marriage on June 28 at the Belton Christian Church. The Rev. Richard L. Person of Belton officiated. The parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Richard M. Goddard of Platte City and Mr. and Mrs. Bill G. Barker of Kansas City. The church was decorated with two large gold vases filled with pink roses and baby’s breath and lighted candles.

The body of a Kansas City businessman who was shot in the head was found by a citizen who reported it to the sheriff’s department. It was found Saturday in a rural area 1.7 miles south of County Road E. near the Interurban Road. Cyril “Sonny Boy” Geringer, 35, who owned C & G Enterprises, Inc. an engineering firm, had been missing since Aug. 15. Platte County Coroner Roland Giffee said an autopsy showed Geringer was shot in the head two weeks ago. The body was decomposed.
