Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Patterson of Ferrelview have announced the engagement of their daughter, Robin, to Thomas Hevalow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hevalow, of Parkville. The bride to be is a graduate of the Platte County R-3 High School and Terry’s School of Hair Fashion and is presently employed at the Hair-I-Tage in Platte City. Hevalow is a graduate of Park Hill High School and is employed by the K and S Construction Co. The wedding is planned for Nov. 1.


Franklin J. (Junior) Downing took office Sunday as the new mayor of Dearborn following his election Aug. 5. He defeated incumbent Fred Gardner and he is already making plans for his hometown that he hopes to accomplish during his two-year term. Downing was born in Platte County near Dearborn, graduated from the old Dearborn High School at age 16 and has lived in Dearborn all his life to date. He would like to see Dearborn prosper.

Platte City firemen were called to the Walter Meyer home Sunday night when flames erupted in a northwest corner bedroom. There were no injuries. Meyer said he feels that lightning caused the fire by coming in on his son’s television set. Steve Hardesty, assistant fire chief, said the department had the blaze knocked down within five minutes of arrival. Exact cause hasn’t been determined, Hardesty said.
