After holding a public hearing at the September meeting, the Platte County R-3 Board of Education voted to lower the district’s 2025 property tax rate to $4.9793.

This is four cents below the current levy of $5.0193, which had stayed the same since the 2018-19 school year.

The board voted to levy the operating ceiling for both the general operating and capital projects levies and adjusted the debt service levy.

The adjustment allows for a slight decrease in the total levy while still maintaining funds to pay annual debt on current and previous projects, as well as support future projects outlined in the district’s long-range facility plan.

Tax rates are set in accordance with state law using calculations from the state auditor’s office, which provide budgeted revenue based on assessed personal and real property as determined by the county assessor.
