SATURDAY, AUG. 16 IN PLATTE CITY
For the second straight year, there will be a Hot Summer Night celebration in Downtown Platte City.
Plans are being made for activities to run from 5-11 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16 on Main Street in Platte City.
“Cool off and turn up the fun with a 60-foot slip and slide,” organizers say on social media.
There will be live music by a band known as Bo & The Beards at 246 Main.
A water bounce house for the kids will be available. Also, free axe throwing will be offered for some friendly competition.
Multiple local food trucks will be on hand, including Adrian’s Tacos, Sizzle & Sweets, Sunglo Lemonade and Kona Ice.
For kids only: Free snow cones for the first 50 kids.
For adults, the event will include alcohol sales by Barley & Vine and La Cabana.
Main Street will be closed from Third Street to Second Street for the event.
The night will be capped off by a free Pyro show, which was a hit at last year’s celebration. The group Pyro Flow will be performing.
Based in St. Joseph, Pyro Flow is a community of performing flow artists specializing in fire dancing and LED.
