A rash of burglaries in rural areas of Platte County has been a recent cause for concern, but the Platte County Sheriff’s Department may have solved at least part of the problem with four arrests on Friday. Authorities believe they have solved some of the Weston-Platte City area burglaries, though they caution that similar thefts in other areas are not connected to these areas. Charges have been made in connection with a theft ring linked to burglaries that occurred in the Weston and Platte City area. Investigators hit the jackpot about 5 p.m. Friday when, acting on a tip, they served a search warrant at an apartment on Vine St. in Platte City. Officers discovered hundreds of stolen items, including VCRs, camcorders, television sets, jewelry, guns and related items.
