I sometimes think our democracy is at risk because of walkers that walk along city streets instead of walking trails or sidewalks. It just seems like a really dumb decision that I see almost daily. Is there a reasonable explanation for this behavior?
Not a joke. Saw a report this weekend that a downtown Kansas City group is encouraging the City of Kansas City to change some streets in the areas of the new street cars to a “meandering design” because it will slow down the speeders. To no one’s surprise the city is considering making roads that are now straight to “weaving” design or layout to slow down traffic.
I swear that humans, especially those that who decided to live in densely populated areas, are mildly insane.
I’m a solution guy and instead of redesigning the roads to reduce traffic speed for the street cars that no one rides, how about we set some cops there for about a month and give out a whole slew of tickets? Incredibly old school thought, but worth a try.
My wife and I have started a new game of seeing who can spot the oldest temporary tag each month. I registered a 03/25/2025 expiration near Hwy. 152 and Green Hills Road last week and currently hold the lead position for July. That probably won’t stand, the wife travels deeper into the city on a regular basis and she sometimes gets some multi-year-old numbers. Lot of folks out there not paying personal property tax, I suppose.
I hope I live long enough to hear politicians talking about the problem of frozen real estate taxes for seniors who won’t die and give up their tax advantages. It’s coming eventually. We’re going to have an older population that have all taken advantage of the real estate tax freeze for old people, and it’s going to impact taxing authorities and further upset the tax balance by forcing higher collections on young people. I’m no actuarial, but I have a degree in common sense.
By the time that happens, I will have secured the necessary days on this planet to obtain that tax freeze. I’m filing for that thing on the day I become eligible.
I’m headed to Colorado this week for my niece’s wedding. I was out that way last year and they sure smoke a lot of dope in Colorado now. Turns out that it is less than others, though. The five states with the most weed consumption are (1) Vermont, (2) Alaska, (3) Oregon, (4) New Mexico and (5) Washington.
Put that in your vape pen and smoke it.
I’ve never held, owned, or seen a vape pen up close. I suppose I should get one, just to see what all the fuss is about. If I was younger, I’d probably vape something grape flavored, but probably aged out of that behavior.
Honestly, If I lived in Vermont, I’d be stoned daily too. It looks cold, wet, and boring. It’s basically a suburb of Montreal. They don’t have any major league sports teams and Bernie Sanders is their senator, but I read that they have a lot of good skiing, both of which explains the getting high. They also have lots of walking trails and I’m going to assume that they’re smart enough not to walk in the city streets, so there’s a retirement option for you if you’re reading this for those options.
