Presidential politics in the United States has become an election every four years, followed by 60 days or so of gloating or moping, depending on which side you are on and then three full years of rallies and/or protests from the party that lost. Rinse and repeat.

I do not want to be an alarmist, but this aging thing is the real deal. I went to the eye doctor last week to get a simple stye removed and I left with a whole new problem. Apparently, my eyelids are fat. Basically, the doctor said my eyelids are restricting my peripheral vision because the lids have dropped with gravity over the years. It seemed like he was fat shaming my eyes and after showing me some of the fat folds, he was right to do so.

Apparently, that is a surgery that is covered by insurance, but I have a “no opening up the body” as an elective procedure rule, so that probably is not going to happen.

If you want me to see you, just stand directly in front of me.

If God, or whoever created us, wanted us to do elective surgeries, He would have put a zipper on us.

I asked my wife if my eyes looked fat to her. She said yes. I liked her better when we were young and she lied to me. Not exactly sure when that policy changed.

By the time you are reading this, I suspect that most of the area school districts will have passed a “no tax increase” bond issue for your benefit. I’m a product of public schools and just don’t understand how “no tax increase” makes us feel better about spending more money on schools and pushing the debt and costs on to the future. The schools and their bond companies have struck gold in this “no tax increase” funding rhetoric. Future taxpayers are not quite as lucky.

I’m putting my eyes on a diet, starting Monday. Social media likely comes with a bunch of calories, so probably cut out Facebook for a bit and see if that helps. I’ll let you know.

Probably start some eye exercise program or something as well, maybe join an eyelid gym or yoga class.

I kind of feel like my receding hairline has contributed to this eyelid obesity. My hair used to hold up my forehead fat and without that base holding it in place, my forehead has drooped down over my eyes. Just a theory, not medical advice.

Foreheads are among the most remarkable parts of human aging. Along with myself, most of my similarly chronologically challenged friends are developing very large foreheads. Male and females alike. I assume that the foreheads are not actually growing, but the hair is receding, but I cannot confirm this as I have no medical expertise in forehead size.

I told you that this aging thing was the real deal. Proceed with care, as the alternative is worse.
