Graham is one of two candidates who will be on the ballot to replace longtime alderman John Higgins, who is not seeking re-election. The other candidate is Amber Brune.

Ken Graham is married with three married children and eight grandchildren who live in the Kansas City area, including Platte City.

Graham has 40 years of extensive experience as a licensed architect and planner, having worked on multiple Platte City and Platte County, KC metro area, regional and nationwide projects.

“I established my sole-proprietorship business, Corner Stone Design, LLC, in 2002 with a mission to provide ‘Exceptional Architectural Solutions’ for my clients. I have been licensed in a dozen states and am currently licensed in Missouri and Kansas, Graham said.

He grew up in Maryville, Mo. where he attended Northwest Missouri State University studying Pre-Architecture and transferred to Kansas State University graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture degree.

“My wife and I raised our children during the 33 years we lived in Liberty. One of the primary reasons we moved to that community was due to the opportunity I was given by an architectural firm and the City of Liberty to help design public improvements for the Historic Liberty Square and surrounding buildings. It was a pleasure working together with individual business owners on their historic buildings,” he said.

“I am actively involved in Platte City community organizations including FBC Platte City, F-3 KC The North – international network of peer-led workouts for men, and was recently appointed to the City of Platte City Board of Zoning Adjustments,” Graham added.

He said his reasons for running for alderman are as follows:

· Approached to consider running for Ward 3 Alderman position being vacated this spring
·Opportunity to serve our community
·Passion for preservation and revitalization of our community
· Desire to inspire and encourage all to work for the betterment of our Platte City/Platte County community

“I believe I can be of assistance through my involvement with local government and input from local businesses, organizations and citizen stakeholders within our community,” he said.

“I believe that planned preservation and growth of our Platte City community are very important worthwhile efforts that can help our community grow better and stronger for the future,” Graham stated.

He said that if elected, he will welcome community input.
