Chiefs, taxes and such

The Kansas City Chiefs got a case of ass whip opened on them Sunday. Happens. The other teams try, too. Patrick Mahomes has three kids, a couple of dogs and a wife at home, being great sometimes gets lost in the pedestrian tasks of being human. What a run of success. I’m certainly no expert on if this continues, but what a ride of fandom if that was the end of this era of greatness.

Andy Reid is a magician, but he couldn’t hide that offensive line play any longer. The Eagles could smell that magic trick from Pennsylvania, and they attacked.

On to better news, Americans for Prosperity is a national group with a state chapter that is taking a full court press to eliminating income taxes in Missouri. They are promoting a grassroots effort tour around the state of Missouri to build support for a Zero Income Tax bill. They’re in Lee’s Summit on Feb. 21, Independence on Feb. 22 and they just got done with a run through Northwest Missouri. The group officially prioritizes lowering taxes, education freedom, free speech, and regulatory reform (as in less regulation).

If I had to rank taxes, personal property taxes are my least favorite. What a joke of a tax. Buy a car or a trailer and then pay the government for the life of that depreciating asset for the honor of owning something that drops in value on a daily basis. I’d like to know the pencil neck dude who thought up that tax.

My “research” tells me that some robe wearing hooligan from Egypt probably invented property tax. Not sure if they distinguished between real and personal at that point, but I’m sure they were drunk and barely clothed, which is a good starting point to eliminate the tax.

Did Fred Flintstone have to pay taxes on those stone wheeled cars? That seems unfair for cars you had to move with your feet without a combustible engine.

Come to think of it, I’m not sure Fred even had a local license for his pet dinosaur, Dino. That seems problematic. Did Dino even have a rabies shot?

Speaking of things that are uncanceled, former sports radio big wig Kevin Kietzman has clawed his way back into relevancy after the Kansas City Chiefs organization used their influence to push him off the airways nearly six years ago. Kietzman hosts a podcast called “Kevin Kietzman Has Issues” that is a pretty good take on politics and sports, and he has recently moved back to a radio slot on KCMO talk radio, where he hosts his show, “Uncanceled,” on weekdays from 10-11.

It’s an impressive comeback, as many and most who feel the power wrath of the Chiefs are blown into obscurity, never to be seen again.

Wait. I think I hate hotel taxes more than personal property taxes. Unsuspecting visitors to a town grab a hotel room in a trendy part of town and then pay $20 extra dollars a night to throw some money in some City Hall wishing well and it is infuriating. Let’s rank that one above personal property tax on our consolidated hate list. This is an evolving list.
