PEDAL CONFUSION ON THE PART OF DRIVER

Driver error caused a Honda HR-V to jump a curb and strike the front door area of the Pizza Shoppe, located at 2437 NW Prairie View Road in Platte City. Police say the incident occurred about 12:15 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2 when the Honda driver, an 87-year-old woman from Platte City, while parking at the front of the building hit the accelerator pedal instead of the brake pedal. The restaurant’s front entry door area and a trash can on the sidewalk were struck, says Sgt. Mike Mand, public information officer for the Platte City Police Department. No injuries occurred as a result of the incident, Mand said. The restaurant remained open as first responders, including Kent Pine (pictured) of the Central Platte Fire Department, arrived to process the scene.
