Members of the First Baptist Church, the First Christian Church and the United Methodist Church will unite in a community service of Thanksgiving on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the United Methodist Church. Rev. Charles Anderson, pastor of the First Baptist Church will deliver a Thanksgiving meditation. Rev. Lester Weeks will lead in prayer and read scripture and Rev. L. Kyle Hern will serve as liturgist. Special music will be provided by members of the various churches.


Donna’s Boutique, Platte City, is having its first fall and winter fashion sales. The shop is owned and operated by Donna Edlin and Linda Lance and was formerly a beauty shop only. During the past few months, they have moved the beauty shop upstairs to the first floor of the building and have added a line of women’s fashions and the same time have changed the name to Donna’s Boutique. They carry name brands of dresses, pant suits, blouses, etc.

The third in the 1979-80 Jewish Community Center’s Friends of Jazz concert series will match up a legendary trumpeter whose renown goes back to the early days of be-bop with a native of the Kansas City area who has established himself as the leading reed man on the West Coast. Trumpeter, Red Rodney, perhaps best known for his three-year association with the late Charlie Parker, will be featured with Gary Foster.
