As of Friday, Nov. 1 at 10 a.m., an impressive total of 17,751 Platte Countians have already voted ahead of the Nov. 5 election.
There are 72,574 active registered voters in Platte County. So the 17,551 means a total of 24.46 percent have already voted in advance of Election Day, so nearly one fourth. And there is still time for more.
Early voting is taking place at the Platte County Board of Elections office, located at 2600 NW Prairie View Road, Platte City. Remaining early voting hours are 8-5 on Friday, Nov. 1, 8-noon on Saturday, Nov. 2, and 8-5 on Monday, Nov. 4.
Early voting opened last Tuesday, Oct. 22. The turnout is well above what election officials had initially expected.
Numerous parked cars have filled the board of elections parking lot and lined the street near the board of elections office throughout the week.
Voters told The Landmark that although there was a line, the voting process moved quickly and there were no problems encountered. Most are reporting having the process completed in about 15 minutes.
