The crash happened on northbound I-29 at 7:50 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when a 2010 Ford F150 pickup struck the rear of a 2021 Honda Odyssey, forcing the Odyssey into the rear of a 2007 Chevy Silverado. The F150 then traveled off the roadway and overturned.

The driver of the F150, 37-year-old Christian B. Aguilar, of Lee’s Summit, suffered serious injuries. He was transported by Kansas City Fire Department to Liberty Hospital.

The highway patrol report indicates Aguilar was not wearing a seat belt. An 11-year-old male was in the pickup with Aguilar. The 11-year-old, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered only minor injuries, and was taken by private vehicle to Liberty Hospital.

Three occupants of the Honda Odyssey suffered minor injuries. John M. Bousfield, 18, of Lansing, Kan. and two juveniles–age 15 and age 17– were the injured occupants of the Odyssey. All were wearing seat belts, and all were transported by private vehicle for medical treatment.

The driver of the Odyssey, 70-year-old Dennis L. Reed of Topeka, Kan. was not injured. Damage to the Odyssey is listed as “extensive” on the crash report.

The Silverado was being driven by Aidan C. Ayers, 19, of Kansas City. Ayers was not injured and his vehicle suffered minor damage.

The Ford F-150 was a total loss, according to the crash report.
