EDITOR:
I just read Gordon Cook’s letter to the editor in the Oct. 9 edition and I applaud him for his analysis of the Parkville budget presentation.
In a word from a retired city government manager, that budget presentation is appalling. And I have seen staff get fired for NOT providing information to aldermen/councilmen in advance of a budget discussion. In fact, in my experience myself and other city staff met with each council member individually to present the proposal and respond to their questions. Then when the public presentation was made the information was better quality and could be heard by the entire city council as well as the public.
Appalling!
