World travelers Fred and Nancy Felix of Platte City recently visited Italy and, you guessed it, took a copy of The Landmark along for the fun. Here before taking a tour of the place, Nancy and Fred paused to read the pages of their favorite newspaper outside the historic Colosseum in Rome, Italy. The Colosseum is the largest ancient amphitheatre ever built, and is still the largest standing amphitheatre in the world, despite its age. Construction began in AD 72 and was completed in AD 80. It is one of Rome’s most popular tourist attractions and has links to the Catholic Church, as each Good Friday the Pope leads a torchlit “Way of the Cross” procession that starts in the area around the Colosseum. Headed somewhere noteworthy? Take a copy of The Landmark and snap a photo with the newspaper displayed. Email your picture and information about your trip to ivan@plattecountylandmark.com.
