This is a rendering of the newly-planned Parkville Farmers Market structure. The final plans were approved recently at a joint Parkville Board of Aldermen/CLARB (park board) public meeting. The plans should go to bid the first part of October, says Dean Katerndahl, Parkville mayor.  “Our plan is to have it open for the spring 2025 farmers market season. The new market will look much like the old one, but it will have wider bays, it will be taller, and the roof overhang will be a little longer,” Katerndahl said.  The mayor added that “not only will we be building a new market, but we will be making substantial improvements to the area around it including sidewalks, the parking area, and bollards to protect the market from errant trucks.”

The new market structure is being funded from insurance proceeds from parties involved in damaging the old structure, park funds, and a grant from Platte County.

The new market will be going up in the same place where the previous one stood, in the parking lot just outside English Landing Park in Downtown Parkville.
