The action begins at 9 a.m. with the monthly Firehouse Market event at the Central Platte Fire Department headquarters at Second and Main. Many vendors will be inside selling their goods and services from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Breaking Slabs BBQ food trailer will be on hand during the Firehouse Market offering barbecue such as pulled chicken sandwiches and ribs.

For vendor information about the Firehouse Market, email pcfirehousemarket@gmail.com.

A nighttime event will fill Platte City Main Street that evening. It’s called Hot Summer Night and it gets underway at 5 p.m. and is set to run through 10 p.m.
Organizers say they’ll be shutting down Main Street and building a huge 120-ft. slip and slide for all ages, with inner tubes provided.

A kids water bounce house will also be available.

Main Street from Fourth Street to Second Street will be shut down for the activity. There will be live music, Kona Ice, barbecue and smash burgers available for purchase, live music and axe throwing. Alcohol sales at the event will be offered by the Barley and Vine wine bar and La Cabana Mexican Restaurant.

There will be a Pyro Performance at 9:30 p.m.

The Pyro Show will be performed by Pyro Flow, a community of performing flow artists specializing in fire dancing and LED.

Downtown Platte City Association acquired the special event permit for Hot Summer Night through the City of Platte City.

The Hot Summer Night event comes on the heels of a Main Street Celebration hosted by the Downtown Platte City Association in June and a successful daytime Fourth of July celebration put together by the Platte City Chamber of Commerce.
