Workmen began a face lifting job on the Shirley Fashion’s Center building on Main Street last weekend. The paint is being removed and the front of the building restored to the original look.

The 18th annual Platte County Steam and Gas Engine Show will be held at the Platte County Fair Grounds on August 10, 11, and 12. On Saturday night there will be an antique tractor pull.

Miss Judy Kay Blankenship and Charles Thomas Hunt were united in marriage on July 7, 1979 at the First Baptist Church in Platte City. The bride is the daughter of Marvin W. Blankenship of Platte City and Mrs. Ada Lee Blankenship of St. Louis, Missouri. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Hunt of Platte City. The Reverend Charles Anderson performed the double ring ceremony.

On Thursday afternoon, July 26, Justin Smither celebrated his first birthday at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Smither. He had a birthday cake with one candle and a little red wagon from his dad, Ray Smither, along with other gifts.

Wednesday night, Aug. 8, the free movie in Platte City will be “The Jolson Story” in color with Larry Parks and Evelyn Keyes.
