Platte County voters approved a 10 year extension of the county parks and recreation half cent sales tax. There were 2,667 votes in favor and 2,273 votes against the tax. According to the Platte County Board of Elections, 8.1 percent of registered votes in the county went to the polls on Tuesday.

Music and ice cream were enjoyed on the Platte County Courthouse lawn on Saturday night. The free concert music was provided by Soca Jukebox, one of the Midwest’s most sought-after groups with a Caribbean steel drum infusion. VFW Post #4055, Ladies Auxiliary and Boy Scout Troop #351 provided a free ice cream social, complete with cake and lemonade.

The Main Street Parkville Association announced the 41st Annual Parkville Days Riverfest, Aug. 21– Aug. 23 by the banks of the Missouri River in English Landing Park, Downtown Historic Parkville. This year’s festival features Josh Vowel & The Rumble, Max Groove and Hal Wakes on Friday, Aug 21 and Wanda Watson Bank, Everett Devan w/ Tom “Trashmouth” Baker, Scottyboy Daniels Blue Band and Levee Town on Saturday, Aug. 22.
