EDITOR:

People who have studied critical thinking have learned that there is a big difference between people who are ego driven and those who are purpose driven. I can really see that difference in the two candidates for Platte County Assessor. Dagmar Wood appears to be ego driven while Marcus Farr appears to be purpose driven.

What about Kansas?

Looking forward to what’s ahead

Dagmar is going to demand a total culture change and restoration of “taxpayer respect” into the assessor’s office. Even though she has provided no proof that a change should be made, she still dedicates space on her Facebook page about it. Those usually are actions that might come from an ego driven person.

Ego driven people don’t typically seek out other people’s opinion. They believe they are always right. Working with ego driven people can be a challenge.

Compare that to Marcus Farr’s purpose driven philosophy. He shares everything with his team, providing guidance and accepting feedback from his associates. People like to work for a purpose driven individual because they can celebrate their accomplishments as a team. Working with a purpose driven person is empowering.

Marcus has been trained in all the software programs used in the assessor’s office and has achieved the title of Missouri Certified Appraiser. He has brought that knowledge back to the office where he teaches and assists his co-workers. A purpose driven personality brings the entire office together. It also bodes well for working with all the other elected officials. This is the purpose driven personality at its best.

So, it’s up to you, the voters, to choose an ego driven person who, without asking your input, voted to burden you with the largest tax increase in Platte County history or, a purpose driven person who will develop a team that will follow the laws of Missouri.

I’m confident that you will do what is right for Platte County.
