On Wednesday, June 26, at approximately 8:25 p.m., deputies with the Platte County Sheriff’s Office responded to Houston Lake in southern Platte County on the report of a possible drowning.  Upon arrival deputies located a non-responsive male party floating in the water near the dock.  The male party was removed from the water, transported to North Kansas City Hospital where the victim was declared deceased.

The victim has been identified as Eric L. Stephens, a 52-year-old white male resident of Houston Lake. This incident remains under investigation by detectives with the Platte County Sheriff’s Office, however, foul play is not suspected at this time.
