LOTS WERE FORMERLY FOR COUNTY EMPLOYEE USE ONLY

In a change of policy, two Platte County-owned parking lots on the west side of Third Street across from the Platte County Administration Building in Platte City are now open for public use.

“Over the years we’ve had multiple complaints from the Platte City business community about the unavailability of on-street parking (in Downtown Platte City). And we’ve also had issues dealing with (employee) reserved parking spaces,” Scott Fricker, presiding county commissioner, told The Landmark this week.

Because of these reasons, Fricker said, the county commission has decided to make the two parking lots west of Third Street open to the public. He said “parking for Platte County employees only” signs will be removed sometime over the next week. There will no longer be any reserved employee parking spaces.

The parking lot on the north side of the Platte County Administration Building will remain available for county-owned vehicles and employee parking, Fricker said.

Officeholders and department heads were notified of the change via email on Monday afternoon.
