Commencement exercises for the Platte County R-3 High School seniors will be held Sunday, May 20 in the high school gym. There are 102 seniors in the class. The public is invited to attend.


On May 12, 1979 the advanced degree of doctor of dental surgery was conferred upon Jack Williams Swaney during the graduation ceremonies for hte University of Missouri-Kansas City, School of Dentistry. Dr. Swaney is a graduate of the Platte County R-3 School District and the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York.

St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Maryville, Mo. was the setting on April 17 for the wedding of Sherry Phillips, St. Joseph, and Jim Zech of Maryville, with Father Charles Jones officiating. Jim, a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University with a bachelor of science in agricultural business, is a member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. Sherry, a graduate of Methodist Medical Center School of Nursing, is a R.N. in intensive coronary care unit at Methodist Medical Center in St. Joseph and a member of Delta Zeta Sorority at Northwest Missouri State University.


Allen Jetmore, son of Mrs. Kathryn Jetmore of Parkville, has recently been recognized as one of seven students as members of the Skulls of Seven at Westminster College, an elite organization of seniors whose purpose is to guard the traditions of Westminster.
