Married on Oct. 23, 1993 in Platte City were Heather Michelle Crane and Monte L. Wright of Platte City. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Monte Wright, and Sindy Crane, all of Farley.
Tonya Ryan, daughter of Tom and Linda Ryan, is Platte County R-3’s nominee for the Breaking Tradition Award. The award, presented by the University of Missouri, is intended to encourage young men and women to enter non-traditional careers. Ryan, in her third year of high school drafting, plans to study drafting and design technology at Southwest Missouri State University. Versatile and active in school and community, Ryan will complete a college preparatory program of 28 credits by graduation day. The Occupational Outlook Quarterly stated in a recent issue: “Women in non-traditional jobs often earn 20-30 percent more than those in traditional occupations.” Ryan’s dream is to be one of those women.
The pressure is on for the North Platte Middle School All-Star academic team members. Four teams have been competing in game show style quizzes over subjects covered on Missouri Mastery Achievement Tests. The championship round will be held at the PTSA meeting on April 21.
