45 Years Ago–March 23, 1979

Mrs. James Higgins, regent for the Platte County Purchase Chapter DAR, received word this week that Esther Lutes, niece of Mary Lutes, of Camden Point Elementary School, received third place in the State DAR Essay Contest on her essay entitled “Travel in the Thirteen Colonies.”


Nearly a quarter of a million dollars will be spent by United Telephone Company of Missouri within the next few months in order to improve long distance telephone service for customers in the Dearborn and Camden Point exchanged. Actual cost of the project is estimated at $221,000.00 according to Ray Sell, district manager of the company.


The children of Bud and Betty Reavis cordially invite all friends to attend their parents’ 25th wedding reception on April 1, 1979 from 2-5 p.m. to be held at their home, eight miles south of Platte City N Highway.


Terri Fowler, Lawrence, Kan. spent the weekend with her brother, Jim Fowler, and family. Terri is on spring break from the university and will spend the remaining time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Fowler, Atchison.


Mr. and Mrs. George Schaub, Anaheim, Calif., are visiting relatives here. They were recent guests of his sister, Mrs. Mabel McMichael.
