The Phillips 66 gas station at the intersection of Hwy. 92 and the Hwy. 45 Spur east of the Centennial Bridge over the Missouri River at Leavenworth was robbed by a man with a knife on Saturday night. The male suspect forced two employees into a back room before taking money from the store’s cash register. He also took one of the employee’s car keys. The suspect then fled in the employee’s green Mercury Mountaineer. Leavenworth police recovered the vehicle Monday in Leavenworth.

Work on the Platte County Courthouse continues to restore the look of the historic building in downtown Platte City. In late 2008, work began on the courthouse to repair the brick and replace the windows. The work includes fixing damage and wear on the bricks, as well as repairing concrete on the courthouse building. Commercial Waterproofing out of Parkville is doing the work on the courthouse. The work is expected to continue for several months. Commercial Waterproofing is the same company that performed brickwork on The Landmark building in downtown Platte City last summer/fall.
