Mr. and Mrs. W. Kent Weigman of Weston, Mo. announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Karla Kay, to John David Shaw, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Shaw of Platte City. Ms. Weigman is a 1976 graduate of West Platte High School and a 1977 graduate of Kansas City Business College. She is presently employed by Leslie E. Dyer, circuit clerk of Platte County. Mr. Shaw is a 1968 graduate of Platte City High School and is presently employed by Trans World Airlines at Kansas City International Airport. The wedding is planned for March 10.


Chris Arthur, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Arthur of Cameron, and Rick Shaw, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Shaw of Platte City, were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony Dec. 30 in Mt. Olive, Illinois. After a short wedding trip, the couple is now residing at Mt. Olive. Rick is employed at Nickerson Farms.

Mr. and Mrs. Michael C. Arnold of St. Joseph are the proud parents of a son, born Jan. 23, 1979 at Missouri Methodist Hospital in St. Joseph. He has been named Douglas Kemper and has a four-and-a-half-year-old sister, Tara, to welcome him home. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Maxwell of Faucett and Mrs. Lucille Eskridge of Platte City.
