For those of you who think we are really getting this climate control issue settled, you might put this information in your non combustion think tank. Since 1999 the United States has cut its CO2 emissions from six billion tons to about five billion tons.
Over that same time period, our friends in China have increased their CO2 emissions from four billion tons to approximately 12 billion tons. I’m not a mathematician but that seems bad if you think the world is going green.
My friends, we are simply peeing in the ocean with these efforts, it is not going to work, regardless of how much money we throw at the perceived problem.
I get a kick out of news media that is so excited to promote something that seems politically correct that they forget about the facts. KSDK News, an NBC television station in St. Louis, pushed a story out last week about Missouri House Minority Leader Crystal Quade running for governor. Quade released some oddball video that showed her playing rollerball or something of the sort as part of her announcement.
KSDK tweeted, “She is the first woman and the first Democrat to announce a run for governor in the State.”
Perhaps KSDK meant she is the first to announce “this year,” but Twitter verse was quick to point out Betty Hearnes ran for governor back in 1988, Margaret Kelly in 1996, Claire McCaskill in 2004, Catherine Hanaway in 2016 and Nicole Galloway in 2020.
Unfortunately, the media does not get a pass, because they are constantly seeking some politically correct angle to take. Would they say “Jay Ashcroft” is the first man to enter the governor’s race. No. They would not.
The Associated Press even promoted her video with the headline, “Democrat Crystal Quade shows off roller derby skills in Missouri governor campaign launch video.”
Who of us has not thought, “Damn, I wish our governor was a good at Roller Derby.”
After seeing Quade’s rollerball video, it made me miss Eric Greitens’ obstacle course videos. I’d pay good money to see Eric Greitens and this woman compete in an Iron Man contest of some sort.
This all begs the question of when and where can you get your Roller Derby fix. I’m an answer guy. Appears as though you can catch a little Roller Derby on Saturday, Aug. 19 at 3:30 p.m. when the St. Louis Arch Rival teams take on the Windy City Rollers.
The mission statement of the league states this: “Arch Rival Roller Derby (ARCH) exists to provide an opportunity for transgender women, cisgender women, intersex women, and gender expansive participants in the St. Louis region to participate in the challenging and exciting sport of roller derby.”
I’m not sure I even understand what that means, but Roller Derby is Roller Derby in my book, get your tickets now.
