July 14 is the date announced for the placement and sealing of a time capsule in the renovated Platte County Courthouse to be opened June 6, 2076, 28 days prior to the July 4th Tricentennial celebration. All Platte County families may submit a concise summary of their family history to be placed in the capsule.

The final two and one-half miles of roadway marking the completion of Interstate Route 35 in northwest Missouri will be officially opened to traffic in dedication ceremonies on Friday, June 23. Opening of the section completes the final game on I-35 in Missouri and will provide motorists with a direct 113 mile four-lane divided highway from Kansas City to the Iowa state line. An additional seven miles of roadway located immediately north and south of this segment were completed in the fall of 1977 and opened to traffic at that time.
