CELEBRATION SET THURSDAY, JUNE 15

A retirement celebration for DJ Gehrt, city administrator for Platte City, is set for Thursday, June 15 from 3-5 p.m. The event will be held at the current City Hall, located at 400 Main Street. There will be brief remarks and presentation of some items provided by the city and other agencies or firms that have worked with Gehrt over the years. Light refreshments will be provided. The public is invited to stop by to wish Gehrt well on his future endeavors. He has held a spot in local government service for 30 years, including the last nearly 12 years in Platte City. “For those who know DJ well, he is somewhat reluctant to receive recognition but I’m sure he will enjoy seeing whomever has a moment to stop by,” said Marji Gehr, acting city administrator. Gehrt’s retirement is effective June 30, and Gehr will assume the full role.
