A proposed unified development ordinance and zoning map is becoming an important topic at the City of Tracy, with potential growth on the way to the small town. There is talk of new homes and a truck stop potentially on the way. Lisa Rehard, city attorney, says the zoning commission has worked for many months to update Tracy’s zoning, which was last updated about 1983.


The Platte County Commission honored citizens who assisted with the Platte Profile focus group. They included Dick Anderson, sheriff; Dan Peak, Stan Palmer, Valerie McCaw, first district commissioner Tom Pryor, Dave Knack, Trish Stinnett, Bob Kincaid, David Picco, presiding commissioner Betty Knight, Aaron Jung, Laurie Burgess, Jerry Haag, Margie Maasen, Louis Buntin, Susan Brown, Edie Ballweg, and second district commissioner Jim Plunkett.


The Parkville Board of Aldermen on Tuesday approved the placing of a driving trail marker showing the path of troops during the Civil War. The marker will be placed near a fountain at the railroad depot along Hwy. 9 in Parkville.


A brief scare occurred at the Platte City Middle School on Wednesday morning after a bomb threat note was found with a student. A quick investigation by law enforcement determined there was no danger to students or staff.
