A Memorial Day tradition

Kansas City police say a black Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was traveling southbound on Hwy. 169 just south of Briarcliff at a high rate of speed. Police say the motorcyclist failed to maneuver the curve, and the motorcycle left the roadway to the right and struck a guardrail. The driver was thrown off the motorcycle.

Cpt. Corey Carlisle with the KCPD says the man, identified as Steven M. Cox, age 36, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred shortly after midnight.
