Jan Wren, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wren, will receive her BA degree in marketing during commencement exercises at the University of Arkansas on Saturday, May 13.


Platte Purchase Chapter DAR met Monday evening, April 24, at the home of Mrs. D.R. Clevenger. Platte Purchase Chapter had a special treat with the program given by a talented member. Mrs. George Tatman entertained her audience with several selections from “Spoon River Anthology, by Edgar Lee Masters.” Hostesses were Mrs. Jack Coots, Mrs. Wells Hull, Mrs. Bill Brown and Miss Charlotte Kirby.

Mr. and Mrs. John A. Colombo of St. Louis announce the engagement of their daughter, JoAnn, to James J. Higgins, son of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Higgins of Platte City. The bride-to-be is a 1976 graduate of Avila College of Kansas City and is presently employed at the Helen M. Davis State School for the Severely Handicapped. Her fiancé is a 1974 graduate of Central Missouri State at Warrensburg and is presently employed at the Evergreen Lawn Company. A June 17 wedding is planned and is being held in St. Louis.


The residents of the Sunshine Rest Home attended the senior citizens dinner in Platte City on Thursday.
