With no fanfare and apparently no public disclosure of record, the North Platte School District has applied for the A+ program through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. According to Tim Nash, school board president, the district applied for the program after discussing the issue. “We applied to get the ball rolling. It may be two to three years before we’re approved.”


Sarah Steelman, Republican candidate for governor, spoke on the topic of illegal workers during a stop in Platte County on Tuesday.


The Parkville Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting at the Railroad Depot Museum on Tuesday night to officially open the first phase of the museum. Holding the ribbon were Annette Silvio, chamber executive director; William Quitmeier, chamber president; Carolyn Elwess, Park University archivist; Gerry Richardson, Parkville mayor; Marvin Ferguson, alderman; and Jim Brooks, alderman. It has been almost 17 years since the City of Parkville received a grant to open a museum in the old depot in downtown Parkville.


On Friday, April 25, the Platte County Sheriff’s Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint at the intersection of Hwy. 45 and Klamm. More than 600 vehicles were involved in the checkpoint. There were three DWI arrests.
