45 Years Ago–April 14, 1978

Tracy residents reported some minor damage due to tornado-like winds the evening of April 5. On the fairgrounds property, a large oak tree was uprooted and the Old Covered Bridge severely damaged. Some residents slept through it, others said it sounded like a freight train, airplane or truck tearing through.


Dr. R.J. Felling, who has been an osteopathic physician in Weston for 42 years, will be honored April 16 and 17 for his many services to the community.


Mrs. Lawrence Alexander was hostess to the Platte Purchase Chapter DAR on Monday evening, March 27. The chapter regent, Mrs. James M. Higgins, led the opening ritual and the business meeting. The assistant hostesses, Mrs. Carl Porter, Mrs. Coin Morton, Mrs. J.W. Lewis, Jr., Mrs. B.T. Brown and Mrs. Fred Soflin served refreshments.


The Pirate Booster Club met April 3 for a regular meeting. A fundraising report was given by John Bradford. It was the committee’s recommendation that we sell ads for cushions to order and be delivered in time for the first 1978 football game. A spring sports banquet was planned for May 6.
