At Tuesday’s municipal election in Platte City, former mayor Frank Offutt beat incumbent Dave Brooks with 64% of the votes going to Offutt. “I am humbled by the response of the voters at the poll,” said Offutt. “I will be a servant of the people of Platte City.” Offutt received 430 votes to 241 for Brooks.

State Rep. Jason Brown, District 30, was one of the candidates to speak to a crowd of about 70 local Republicans at the Platte County Pachyderm Club meeting Thursday night at O’Dowd’s in Zona Rosa. Brown spent most of his speech talking about the need for Republicans to try to defeat Jason Grill, state representative for District 32 serving southern Platte County. “He’s not a good person,” Brown said, holding up a copy of a newspaper detailing a rape allegation against Grill, a Democrat, about 18 months ago. No charges were filed in the case.
