45 Years Ago–March 17, 1978

The annual Girl Scout father-daughter banquet was held Saturday night at the high school. The “Good Ole Days” theme was carried out in decorations and throughout the program presented by the Girl Scouts. Mrs. Patsy Baber, neighborhood chairman, introduced the officers committees and troop leaders.


Ken Carnes, director of the Missouri Department of Public Safety, has announced the appointment of F.M. Wilson to the position of assistant to the director.


William E. Johnson filed Monday, March 13 as a candidate for collector of revenue for Platte County on the Democratic ticket. Johnson was appointed in January by the governor to fill the term of office left vacant by the resignation of Irvin Reineke. Johnson is a lifelong resident of Platte County.


Mr. and Mrs. John Crigger of Farley celebrated their silver wedding anniversary on Feb. 25, 1978 with their children and many friends and relatives. They were married in Platte City on Feb. 25, 1953. Their children, Mr. and Mrs. Roy F. Henderson, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Caldwell and Penny Crigger, escorted them to dinner at Stephenson’s Restaurant in Independence, Mo. and then were taken to Angus Room in Leavenworth, Kan. where they were honored at a surprise reception given by their family.
