45 Years Ago–February 3, 1978

Ethel E. Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Jones of Platte City, was promoted to yeoman first class on Jan. 16, 1978. She is serving in the Navy and is stationed at the Navy Resource Management School at the Naval Air Station in Memphis, Tenn., where she is the administrative office supervisor.


Mr. and Mrs. Orville Farmer of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Lancaster of Kansas City and Mrs. Lysle Babcock of Platte City were Friday callers of Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Richardson. Later the company visited with Claude Skinner.


Gov. Joseph P. Teasdale last Thursday named Platte County Prosecutor Lee Hull as magistrate judge to succeed R.H. Mos, Jr., who resigned effective Jan. 31.


The office of the Platte County Collector was reopened Wednesday following its closure Jan. 5 upon the resignation of former collector Irvin “Bud” Reineke. William E. Johnson, appointed collector on Jan. 13 by Gov. Joseph Teasdale, had to wait to open the office until an audit was completed and a security bond authorization was obtained.


Mr. and Mrs. Owen Boydston announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Janis Marie, to Kevin Matthew Reineke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Reineke, Platte City.
