45 Years Ago–December 16, 1977

Noble Aring was a Landmark visitor this week and tells us he has received 50-year pins this year from the Farley Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite in Kansas City and the Ararat Shrine in Kansas City.


The largest budget ever presented in Platte County is the 1978 budget in the amount of $4,833,953.78. It was presented to the county court Thursday by Judge Henry Miller, county budget officer. The large budget is due to the $2 million courthouse and jail construction from bonds, $260,000 building fund from general revenue and $250,000 reassessment and tax maps.


Mr. and Mrs. Preston Kincaid of Platte City announce the birth of their daughter, Jennifer Shea, on Nov. 30, 1977 at the Atchison Hospital. The maternal grandmother is Mrs. James Patterson of Lawson and the paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Everett Kincaid of Leavenworth.


Betty Jean Tate, daughter of Sidney and Lelia Tate of Tracy was married Nov. 25 at the Tracy Baptist Church to Stan Dudley, son of Ileen and Bill Dudley of Laredo, Mo.


Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Babcock will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception on Sunday, Dec. 18.
