The long range plan for KCI Airport proposes only one terminal. The airport unveiled an updated master plan during an open house Thursday at the Ambassador Building near KCI. The master plan also includes a noise compatibility planning study with land use recommendations. The study covers the entire area of the airport from Hwy. 152 in the south to Hwy. 92 in the north and from I-435 to NW Skyview Avenue.

Winter weather hit Platte County in the past several days, first with snow and then with freezing rain, sleet and ice that slowed motorists, closed schools and downed power lines. All of the four school districts in Platte County were closed on Tuesday. The Platte County Sheriff’s Department worked more than three dozen reports of accidents and cars in ditches in one day.

There will be no pay increase in the form of a cost of living allowance (COLA) for county officeholders during the next year due to a vote by the Platte County Commission. The county commission voted 2-1 to reject a proposed order to give elected officials an increase of the same amount as county employees. Commissioners Tom Pryor and Jim Plunkett voted against the pay increase, while Presiding Commissioner Betty Knight voted for the increase. The proposed increase would have gone into effect for the 2008 year, but it would not affect current elected officials until after the beginning of their next elected term.
