Greg Hall, former Landmark columnist/writer whose weekly compilations of sports media sound bites–with some spicy editorial comments thrown in for good measure–was a popular feature in this newspaper for several years, is making a temporary comeback. Hall will be penning four Off the Couch columns to be posted at plattecountylandmark.com over the next week, with the focus being on the big national showdown between Missouri and Kansas in college football. The teams will meet Saturday night at Arrowhead Stadium in a game with national title implications. Undefeated Kansas is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation while Missouri, with only one loss, is ranked No. 4.

On Saturday in Weston, several pets had their pictures taken with Father Christmas. One of the photogenic pets was Sammie, brought by Angela Exposito of Kansas City. Donations given to have the photos taken are going to the local Platte City animal group Kitty Cat Connection, an organization that traps, neuters and returns stray cats.
