45 Years Ago–November 11, 1977

Mr. and Mrs. John Hancock returned home Saturday from a two and a half week trip to New York and the New England states. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Billings of Catham, New Jersey, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Moran of Alhambra, Calif. The Morans returned to Platte City with the Hancocks for a visit with relatives and friends.


The Platte City United Methodist Women will host a Christmas Bazaar on Friday, Nov. 18 in the church on N Hwy. south of Platte City. Working together since last spring, the women have created numerous fine gifts and unique home decorating items.


An “evening of entertainment” will be presented Nov. 18 and 19 at 8 p.m. by Platte County R-3 High School’s drama department. The evening will feature three one-act plays, musical performances and creative readings.


Mr. and Mrs. George Randle of Lake Waukomis celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 29. Relatives and friends gathered at their home for a luncheon with a specially decorated cake for the occasion. They received a number of nice gifts. Those present were Mrs. Dessie Anderson, Mrs. Forestine Hirsch, Mrs. Laura Porattie, Mrs. Norma Herndon, Mrs. Pan Brock, Mrs. Mary Long and Mrs. Connie Dillon.
