Platte County voters generally followed the national trend Tuesday in voting for Democratic candidates. They helped State Sen. Pat (Patsy Ann) Danner defeat Republican Congressman Tom Coleman in the 6th district and swept most state offices except for the U.S. Senate post where incumbent Republican Christopher Bond defeated Geri Rothman-Serot. Democrats Gary Witt and John Birch were elected to the 29th and 30th districts of the Missouri House.
Danny Bohachick, a junior at Platte County R-3 High School in Platte City, shows his prize-winning engineering project, a pole climber. Danny earned the first place plaque in an engineering contest held last week at the University of Kansas. Other schools had pole climbers but his was the only one that went clear to the top of the pole. Rubber bands are used to give the rollers power that far surpassed the propellers used by some other entries. Danny, a junior, is the son of Fran and Sam Bohachick.
