45 Years Ago–Oct. 21, 1977

Water, water everywhere last weekend. The area received about six inches of rain and the Platte River is out of its banks again. The river is several feet higher than it was last month when it went on a rampage. Several families in Tracy have moved to higher ground.


Bo Simpson of Parkville brought a deer he had killed with a bow and arrow to Platte City to register with the conservation agent who reported this is the first deer killed this season in Platte County with a bow and arrow. He estimated the age of the doe between two and three years old. Simpson killed the deer just off Hwy. 45.


The Smithville Warriors defeated the Platte County Pirates 6-2 last Friday night. Platte City is now 2-6 for the season and 2-2 in Northwest 11 Conference play.


Airman Daryl L. Roberts, son of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Roberts, Jr. of Route 1, Weston, has been selected for technical training at Sheppard AFB, Texas, in the Air Force aircraft maintenance field. The airman recently completed basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas. Airman Roberts is a 1977 graduate of West Platte High School.


Mr. and Mrs. June Mason and family went to Warrensburg over the weekend. Junie Mason is attending college there.
