Week One is done! It’s great to see a lot of new players in 2022 and the return of familiar players back from our 2021 season.
New for 2022 is the addition of prize sponsorships from Stone Canyon Pizza, KC Cattle Company, Tanner’s Bar & Grill and the American Legion Alley Bar in Parkville. By the way, you do not need to be a member of the American Legion to enjoy their hospitality in The Alley Bar, it’s a really cool spot to watch a game or grab a cold one. Returning as prize sponsors are Ten and Two Coffee Bar and Nick and Jake’s in Parkville. Glad to have them back supporting Landmark Pick’em in 2022.
Also new for 2022 is the full implementation of our Pick’em sub-leagues. Both The Alley Bar and Tanner’s Bar & Grill in Platte City are leveraging them to run their own in-house competitions, giving players twice as many opportunities to claim victory. If you’d like to join their Landmark Pick’em leagues you can stop into their establishment, scan a QR code with your mobile device and you will be auto-magically added to their league.
In another example, a group of co-workers created their own sub-league so they can share their best smack talking with each other. Anyone can create and manage their own league on the Landmark Pick’em site via the Your Leagues Page. You can even make you league private so you can hide your picks from Foley (who has been known to change his picks based on what other players are doing).
Week One’s clear winner was JasonG, who when we spoke with him asked to not be confused with Kenny G. However, Kenny G did grow up in Seattle just like JasonG. Fun fact: Kenny G is incredibly popular in China. Why you ask? “Going Home,” a song recorded for a 1989 live album, is used to signal the end of business hours at train stations, shopping malls, health clubs, and other locations across the country. Another fun fact: This week’s Landmark Staff winner was NOT Ivan – he wasn’t even close.
