45 Years Ago–August 12, 1977

The adult and student AFS chapter of the Platte County R-3 High School welcome their foreign exchange student, Motoko Koshikawa, from Niigata, Japan. She is 17 years old and will be making her home with the Boyd Mackey, Jr. family. She is interested in piano and baseball. She arrived the last of July to prepare for her year of study.


Rick Mos, magistrate judge of Platte County, will be the speaker at the Platte City Chamber of Commerce regular meeting on Aug. 18.


Donald K. (Pete) Strickland, Platte City, has qualified as a member of the 1977 Top Club of New York Life Insurance Company. The Top Club is composed of New York Life agents who have achieved significant sales records.


Dearborn T-ball players took first place in the T-ball tournament July 17 in Platte City. Platte City No. 1 placed second, Weston No. 2 placed third, and Faucett-Agency No. 1 took fourth place.


Kandace S. George, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William D. George of Platte City, earned the master of business administration degree from the University of Oklahoma in Norman on July 29. Miss George plans to begin a career in the area of major emphasis on her MBA, financial management.
