Circulation of library materials for 1991-92 at the Mid-Continent Public Library reached an all-time record with 5,161,151 items circulated. This eclipses last year’s record by an increase of 584,160 items.


The Selection Committee for the United States Sporting Clays (USSCA) recently nominated Platte City’s Aaron Beene as a member of the 1992 Team USA shooting delegation to represent the United States at the prestigious sporting clays World Championship at Okemo Mountain Resort in Ludlow, Vermont Aug. 23-26.


The Platte City Board of Aldermen Tuesday night approved an increase in the property tax levy from the current 68 cents per $100 of assessed valuation to 87 cents.


Several mule-drawn trains rolled through downtown Platte City one day last week. The wagons were part of the VisionQuest youth program in which troubled youth and offenders travel across the country.


Platte City area businessmen, news media, city and school officials were invited to an “unveiling” at the local MoPub office. Tom Klamm, MoPub district manager, explained to the group they are proud to be one of the first utilities in this area to introduce natural gas vehicles into its regular fleet.
