Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft dropped by The Landmark for a visit Tuesday afternoon and was greeted with a welcoming gift of a copy of Landmark columnist Chris Kamler’s new book, My Best 10%. Ashcroft talked with Kamler, left, and Landmark publisher Ivan Foley, right, about Missouri’s new election law, which does not take effect in time for the primary next week but will be in place for the November election. Voters will have to show photo identification to cast a regular ballot in the November election. The new law also will open a two-week window for people to cast absentee ballots in person without needing to cite a reason why they can’t vote on Election Day–a provision pushed by Democrats as a compromise for not attempting to block the photo ID requirement. Kamler’s new book, by the way, is now available on Amazon and also in The Landmark office at 252 Main in Platte City. The book features some of Kamler’s top columns from the past decade, with updated 2022 commentary on each entry as well.
