The City of Parkville will hold a hometown open house on Saturday, July 7 from 10 a.m. to noon at the new City Hall located at 8880 Clark Avenue. The public is invited to come see the new City Hall and enjoy many of the festivities planned for this event. The City of Parkville is partnering with the Platte County Community Center to provide family entertainment in the west parking lot with an inflatable area for kids, face painting, and hot dogs. The Southern Platte County Fire Department will have its ladder truck and water recovery boat for all to see. The YMCA will be opening the community center to the public for this special event from noon to 3 p.m. free of charge.

The Platte City Board of Aldermen resolved to continue with plans to install sidewalks along First Street. Plans to install sidewalks along the east side of the street between Academy and Spring Streets will move forward, despite the fact the board has heard from some residents in that area who say they would rather not have the sidewalks. A major objection to the plan is the requirement on the homeowners to maintain the sidewalk and clear snow in the wintertime.
