The constant lying by politicians

EDITOR:

Yes, I am getting older. And that is one of many reasons I get tired. But a bigger reason is lying.

Why is lying, at least to me, becoming so accepted as being OK? That frustrates me a lot. It seems more and more that lying is acceptable as long as a person doesn’t get caught. Is this morality and moral values changing? Why?

It seems to be that one reason for lying becoming more acceptable in our society is the constant lying by politicians. They are the ones that are on the news making outrageous statements which gets them in front of the camera. This sets an example for the viewers who think “well he can lie about that, so lying must be OK.”

Maybe I am dreaming, but as I recall it used to be that a person could have some level of trust in what people, especially politicians, would say. For me, that is no longer true. Today you can’t trust a majority of politicians to be truthful and trustworthy. So in my case, I end up reading, listening, and watching to many sources of information to pick out snippets of truth. I sort through statements by these elected officials who think it is perfectly fine to make bad, awful, ridiculous, and outrageous statements – none of which is true.

This level of lying has now reached a point where more and more politicians are making statements and taking action that is unconstitutional.

And this has gone on long enough that quite a few of them think lying must be OK since it gets them headlines.

Meanwhile, the truth gets trampled and people that want to know the truth can’t find any. As for me, I am exhausted.
